Job Description:

We are currently seeking Senior ATIP Officers with recent and extensive experience in the federal ATIP field.

Security Clearance: Secret Level II

Language: Bilingual

Start Date: ASAP Contract available on a continuous basis

Duration: various

Location: Ottawa, ON

Process outstanding requests under ATIP legislation which includes the following duties:

  • Determining relevancy and scope of requests as well as liaising with requesters as required;
  • Administering prescribed fees under Access to Information Act, as required;
  • Carrying out preliminary review of requested records and identifying missing records;
  • Consulting with ATIP and departmental officials who are familiar with the subject records in order to obtain background on same;
  • Reviewing the subject records and identify

i) information to be disclosed;

ii) information to be protected along with the pertinent exemptions/exclusions in accordance with the Acts;

iii) information requiring further consultations and with whom;

iv) identify sensitive matters that may or may not be protected;

  • Providing recommendations on disclosure in accordance with ATIP acts;
  • Inputting all data in tracking and imaging systems and preparing all related correspondence.

Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in both official official languages.
  • Ability to operate independently with little supervision.
  • Availability to work 37.5 hours per week.
  • Experience in using Access Pro Case Management and Redaction software.
  • Updating departmental contributions to Info source (content review) and may include awareness/training sessions to branches.
  • Analyzing, processing, researching and preparing responses to sensitive ATIP requests.
  • Providing recommendations regarding the exemption or exclusion of information to be released

Must Have:

Extensive experience in applying the ATIP Act and their relevant codes of practice. Experience in analyzing documents for disclosure in accordance with ATIP legislation, Treasury Board policies and guidelines and jurisprudence.

ยทminimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required.
